The morning brief is a routine she is hired with, not something you have to build. It runs once a day, and only when there is something behind it: a connected mailbox or calendar, and no brief already sent that morning. A quiet day is exactly when a brief is most useful, so it does not wait for a full task board to fire.
The failure it is written to avoid is the dump. Every event, every unread, and every open task is longer to read than the tabs it was meant to replace, so she decides what earned a line: what is on today, what came in that genuinely needs you, what is due, and the one or two things that need a decision.

Can she include school news?

What does she need connected for it to be useful?
A calendar or a mailbox is the minimum, and the brief will not fire without one, because a brief with nothing behind it can only be an apology. Add the second one and the day part and the inbox part start reinforcing each other.
Where does the brief arrive?
In the workspace chat by default, and in Slack or Telegram if you connect one of those. Because she has her own email address, you can also have the brief land in your inbox like a message from a colleague.
Does it repeat if I already caught up?
No. The routine checks whether you have been briefed today before it runs, so asking her for your day at seven does not get you the same read again at eight.
